December 2011 Meeting Minutes

QBTB held the Christmas party meeting on Dec 14.  About 40 members and guests were present.

The result of the Craft Shows was announced.  Jackie Anderson told us that the net take was $2024.16.  Wow!!  What a great job from all who made things and especially to Jackie and Kim Killen for heading it up.

Spring Retreat:  Last payment was due and collected.  All is underway for April 13-15.  A short project is due next month from attendees.

Mardell Buffington and Sharon Maes are on track with planning the Fall, 2012, Retreat.  The cost will be $270 with first payment and sign ups scheduled for the January meeting.  Dates are Oct 11-14.  The theme will be KISSS--keep it simple sewing sisters.

The 2011 Quilt Raffle drawing was held and Lucky Joyce Greenfield, one of our members won!  Congratulations!

Norma Jean Nyman unveiled the 2012 raffle quilt and it is a beauty.
It is made of red, black, and cream log cabin blocks and is called "Home Sweet Home".  She designed, crafted, and quilted it mostly from her stash.  (I'd like to see that stash.)  Thanks, Norma Jean, for the generous contribution to the guild.  It is a real labor of love.  So let's see if we can't sell a huge number of tickets this year.

Show and Tell:  Mary Bradshaw's niece Caroline showed off her first effort at quilting of some nice placemats and also some embroidery squares.

Becky Curneen showed a cute quilt with birds made from a kit.  It has amazingly beautiful quilting.

About 10 members participated in the Christmas Log Cabin challenge.
We all surveyed the entries and voted for a winner.  Kim Killen won with her log cabin runner that spelled out "Christmas".  She won a nice prize gift certificate from Shibori Dragon.

We then attempted a couple of pencil games and enjoyed some treats lovingly prepared by Mrs. Costco.

Enjoy the holidays, Merry Christmas, and see you all next year.

           Respectfully submitted, Marcia Cramer, Secretary
